Which Tow Mirror is Right For You?

Campers and Recreational Vehicles (RVs) are a great way to travel with your family and have fun at the same time. However, traveling with a camper or in an RV can be a challenge, and with your family along for the ride, you need to be extra careful behind the wheel.

Campers and RVs create several driving concerns, one of which is multiple blind spots. Campers and RVs are longer than your vehicle's standard rear view mirrors were meant to cover, and without proper visibility, you won't just be frustrated when backing into a spot - you might be in danger.

Most RVs, especially Class A motor-homes come with rear view mirrors mounted to RV allowing you to get a wider view of what is behind you from a backup camera mounted inside the RV. When towing campers / trailers, however, you are often using a vehicle with mirrors that do not have the right visibility. Getting the right rear view mirrors and learning to use them properly is one of the first steps in ensuring the safety of you, your family, and other drivers and pedestrians.

Your vehicle needs to have side mirrors designed specifically for towing. Mirrors that, when adjusted to accommodate the size of what you are towing, allow you to see the entire length of your camper all the way to the back bumper.

We also recommend adding convex spot mirrors to your towing mirror if they do not come pre-installed. Adjust the mirrors to widen your view alongside the RV. Convex spot mirrors expand your view on both sides of what you are towing to include a large portion of the next-lane traffic.

Choose from a wide variety of towing mirrors from CIPA

If you tow, CIPA provides just about any mirror needed to make your RV ride not only more enjoyable but also safer. There are three main categories to choose from; extendable, custom and universal mirrors.

  • Extendable towing mirrors

CIPA’s extendable towing mirrors include the 70010 Magna and the 71710 Magna Passenger side mirror. They are sturdy mirrors, featuring excellent design and made only from the highest quality materials.
