Where are you
supposed to place a HotSpot mirror? |
|
|
A
Hot Spot mirror can be placed anywhere you wish,
but are typically placed in the bottom left-hand
corner of the OE mirror. The precise placement
may vary from one person to next. CIPA
recommends placing a piece of folded tape on the
back of the Hot Spot and sticking it on your OE
mirror where you think you might want it. Then,
sit in your car and look through the Hot Spot.
Keep adjusting the placement until it suit your
needs. Finally, remove the folded tape, peel the
adhesive backing tape off the Hot Spot and
stick. |
|
|
|
|
|
What is the best way to
remove a HotSpot mirror? |
|
|
Make sure the glass in your original
mirror is secure by wrapping painter's tape
around your mirror housing before beginning the
HotSpot removal process. Also, place a blanket
or similar padding underneath your mirrors to
catch the glass in the event that it does come
loose. Heat up the HotSpot mirror using a hair
dryer. Once the mirror is hot, try twisting the
HotSpot mirror off (please wear gloves to avoid
burns). If that does not work, squirt some WD-40
behind the mirror (utilizing the WD-40 straw) so
that it soaks the adhesive pad. Let the WD-40
soak in for a few minutes. After a few minutes
have past, try twisting the mirror off again. If
it still will not come off, use a plastic
spatula to pry the HotSpot mirror off by working
the adhesive pad off the glass. Fishing
line is also effective at separating the
adhesive pad from the glass. Never use metal
razors or scrapers as this can scratch the
glass. Once the HotSpot mirror is removed, clean
the glass of your original mirror using glass
cleaner. If there is any adhesive residue
remaining on the glass, use an adhesive removal
product to wipe it away before using the glass
cleaner. Your original mirror should now be good
as new. |
